CHARITY WELCOMES LORD-LIEUTENANT AS PATRON

Added on 03 December 2019

HER MAJESTY'S LORD-LIEUTENANT FOR PERTH AND KINROSS has accepted an invitation to become patron of Castle Cluggy Charitable Trust. Mr. Stephen Leckie, chairman and chief executive of the Crief Hydro Hotel, has pledged to raise the profile of the charity. The appointment came about as a nod to the Crieff Hydro Hotel's close connection with the Ochtertyre estate within which lies Castle Cluggy. In May 1899, Sir Patrick Keith Murray signed an agreement with the founders of the Strathearn Hydropathic Establishment Company Limited for them to utilise the water supply from Loch Turret situated just above Castle Cluggy for production of electric lighting and other benefits.
